Postage Stamps: Feeding America
For this assignment, I created a postage stamp to bring awareness to an organization that is significant to me. The "Feeding America" cause is important because it helps fight hunger and food insecurity in the United States. It supports food banks and distributes food to those who are struggling to obtain nutritious meals. By addressing this issue, "Feeding America" plays a crucial role in improving the well-being of individuals and communities. This assignment is particularly important to me because my family and I have experienced this type of struggle.
Growing up, we did not have the luxury of having three nutritious meals every day. My parents really struggled to put food on the table, especially for five people. Because I have experienced this, this organization is extremely important to me. I would do anything to prevent other people from experiencing what my family and I have been through. The "Feeding America" organization makes a significant difference in the lives of many people.
For the first design design, I created an empty plate surrounded by a spoon and fork, while the second design showcases lonely utensils. This is to help depict the struggle that many people go through because they have nothing to eat. This is also to push the concept of addressing hunger and ensuring that no one goes without food by filling the empty plates. On the plate, I put the "Feeding America" title in bold to emphasize what the stamp was representing. With the text being on the plate, it focuses the viewers eyes on how empty the plate is. I ended up choosing the theme "emptiness" because one of the main goals is to make sure that no one has to experience an empty plate.
